I Was Going To Start With Carpet Cleaning

It was time to get serious, my place looked like a dump and I had been in a funk that it was time for me to get out of. I think I’ve heard someone say that if you want to clean up your life, then start with your room. Well, I think that I’m going to leave my room for the grand finale, and get going on the rest of the house first instead. It wasn’t my house, it was my parent’s house actually and although they didn’t live here and I was paying the mortgage, I hadn’t been treating it with the care and maintenance that it deserves. It’s basically in the kind of state that if my parents were to come to visit unannounced, they’d surely be disappointed in me and the way I’m living. There were piles of trash bags in the corner of the yard full of beer cans. The patio furniture was left out all winter long and now looked like it was ruined, and the yard was overgrown with weeds and other undesirable vegetative growth. I decided to take a week off of work so I could get this place back in order, looking at the dirty carpets at this very moment made me feel motivated.

I put together a list of things that needed to be done while I walked around the yard in my boxers and bathrobe with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth. I need to quit smoking too, I thought as I sucked the poison back through my lungs and partially exhaled as I took another deep drag. Everywhere I looked, there was something that needed to be done but I was going to start with the inside of the hose. I needed some professional carpet cleaning done throughout the entire house. I knew that renting a rug doctor machine or whatever wouldn’t do the trick.

I also didn’t want to mess with having damp carpets for days after they got cleaned, I wasn’t going to keep the windows open to get a breeze because the forecast called for rain over the next several days. That was another reason why I was going to start with the inside of the house, later in the week I’d be able to get in the yard and get some sun after the weather cleared up. I called High Power Clean from a magnet that I had on my fridge. I remembered talking to the guy for a moment when he dropped off the door hangar last year, and he emphasized that they used a method that involved carbonation and only a quarter as much of the water that traditional shampoo and extraction methods do. The furniture in the house could probably use a good cleaning as well, so I might as well kill two birds with one stone and have the High Power Clean guys do some upholstery cleaning too. If I was going to get this all done this week, I’d need to manage my time well.
